The Rock n’ Roll Marathon Series is a compilation of live social running events organized and owned by the Competitor Group. The series is a year round tour of events stopping at America’s top weekend destination cities. Each racing event raises money for a nationally recognized non-profit charitable group. These racing events are known for the live music, cheerleaders, themed races, headliner shows, post race parties and the finishing medals. In 2012 the Competitor Group hosted the series’ first international events.
The series has become extremely popular in recent years causing tour stops to sell out. Las Vegas in 2011 sold out with 44,000 registered runners. Savannah, Georgia sold out 2 months in advance prior to race day in 2011.
In 2012 there are 24 United States stops and 5 International stops. Below are the tour dates…

Rock n’ Roll is attractive to runners because the experience that is to be had at their events. This experience allows the sport to be less intimidating as it naturally can be perceived by newbie runners. Each entry fee is upward of $100 depending on the location and how far in advance the registration is completed before the race. A registration guarantees you a timed entry in the race, a “swag bag”, technical event shirt and a party themed celebration. The celebratory experience is one that can be enjoyed pre and post race. Prior to the race is the expo and in some cities pre race parties are included. In Las Vegas the pre party was the night before at Club Tao…too much fun can make for a tough race the next day. The post race party is kicked off with a finishing medal as you cross the finish line. Some events have a headliner concert with someone like Bret Michaels rocking out while runners are carbing up with a FREE finisher’s beer. There is plenty of sponsored loot to help runners restore the energy that was exuded to get to the post race party!
The Rock n’ Roll Marathon Series encourages runners to do multiple events and offers incentive medals for triumphing numerous runs. The medals are typically bigger and have more “bling.” Runners who are able to travel and participate in the events have the chance obtain several cool medals. Each medal has a theme.
I, myself have run a Rock n’ Roll event and plan to run more events in the near future. These races are engaging in a way that is addictive.
